He only wrote two books before he retired.
Although his 'A Theory of Justice' was written prior to Robert Nozick's response ('Anarchy, State, Utopia') and is generally considered to be of greater philosophical importance, the general public has virtually ignored it, while Nozick's book has been widely embraced.
He is hated by conservatives for providing 'the philosophical foundation for the welfare state.'

Why she might not be annoying:

He earned his Ph.D. from Princeton.
At Harvard, he taught along side Hillary Putnam, W. V. O. Quine, and Robert Nozick.
Through rigorous philosophical methodology, he produced a justification for a liberal political system under which all of its citizens will receive economic security.
He is generally considered the greatest political philosopher of the 20th century.
From 1970-1972 he was the president of The American Association of Political and Social Philosophers.
