The Resume

    (November 9, 1888-March 16, 1979)

Deputy Secretary General of the League of Nations (1919-1923)
President of the High Authority of the ECSC (1952-1955)
One of the founders of the European Union

Why he might be annoying:

    He is French.
    His family sold alcohol.
His vision of a European Union is fraught with difficulties.
    He never held elected office.
He knocked up a 22 year old girl who was married to another dude.
She then divorced her husband and married him.

Why he might not be annoying:

The Jean Monnet Building of the European Commission is named after him.
He believed correctly that the only way World War I would be won was through increased co-ordination of the Allied war effort.

His vision of the European Union was not 'forming coalitions of states' but 'uniting men.'
He was a strong opponent of the Vietnam War.
