Wrestler

The Resume

    (1929-September 10, 1997)
    Birth name is Jack Adkisson
Owned/Wrestled/Promoted WCCW (World Class Championship Wrestling)

Why he might be annoying:

He took the German name Fritz Von Erich because his original gimmick was a Nazi bad guy.
Due to his Nazi character, he was never the NWA Heavyweight Champion.
He pioneered nepotism in wrestling by making his sons the top stars of WCCW (World Class Championship Wrestling), the company that he owned and promoted.
As a promoter, he set standards for poor taste in wrestling that have never been equaled.
His poor taste, along with a lack of good talent and promotion, caused WCCW’s downfall.
He faked his heart attack in a wrestling angle which angered many. They would updated his ‘condition,’ every week claiming it improved or degraded based on ticket sales.
Many say that his stint as President of the NWA was the downfall for the company.
Due to the battles between WCCW and the WWE and NWA (later WCW), his death was publicly ignored.
His wife divorced him, blaming him for the way their sons turned out.
He was very religious and was well known in many major religious circles and made appearances on the 700 Club.

Why he might not be annoying:

He’s the patriarch of the Von Erich family, one of the biggest and greatest wrestling families ever.
For nearly two decades he was one of the leading and most powerful figures in wrestling.
His promotion made Dallas the hottest wrestling territory in the early 80’s, airing in over sixty markets and constantly selling out arenas.
His promotion had music videos, musical entrances and production values that were ahead of its time. They were later duplicated by the other wrestling companies.
He was a key figure in re-establishing wrestling in Japan, after the death of Rikidozan, that country’s biggest star.
Although it’s not certain whether he invented the ‘Iron Claw’ finisher, he popularized it.
He’s a pioneer of wrestling on TV.
He’s a member of the Wrestling-Observer Hall of Fame.
Five of his six children died before him.
