Why he might be annoying:

His magazines has fluff pieces not always in sync with Black Americans.
Jet magazine is a tabloid magazine.
Early advertisements in his magazines featured only light-skinned black models.
Other journalistic endeavors like Negro Digest and Black Stars eventually failed.
Major corporations initially refused to advertise in his magazines because they were marketed towards blacks.
Very rarely will you find a picture (other than crowd shots) of a caucasian in Jet, with the exception of Bill Clinton.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was devoted to his mother.
His father was killed when he was six in a work-related accident.
He donated millions of dollars to charities to help the African-American community.
Ebony and Jet were the first magazines to chronicle black life in the United States.
He proved to corporate America that African-Americans were a viable market.
His magazines reported first hand the brutality and evilness of American racism and segregation.
He was married to the same woman for almost sixty years.
His wife, Eunice, oversaw Fashion Fair and turned it into a cosmetic and fashion empire.
He adopted his son and daughter.
His son died from sickle-cell anemia.
He allowed his daughter to take over the reigns of the business.
