The Resume

    (September 24, 1997-April 30, 2002)
    Comedy series
    Originally aired on ABC
Jenna Elfman as Dharma Freedom Montgomery, (née Finkelstein)
Thomas Gibson as Gregory Clifford 'Greg' Montgomery
Susan Sullivan as Katherine 'Kitty' Montgomery
Mimi Kennedy as Abigail Kathleen 'Abby' O'Neil
    Mitchell Ryan as Edward Montgomery
Alan Rachins as Myron Lawrence 'Larry' Finkelstein
Joel Murray as Peter James 'Pete' Cavanuagh
Shae D'Lyn as Jane Deaux (seasons 1-4)

Why Dharma and Greg might be annoying:

It ripped off 'Mad About You!'
A handful of episode titles were parodies of film titles.
The banter and sexual tension between Dharma and Greg was often completely ridiculous.
The tension between Dharma's parents and Greg's parents also seems over the top.
It's laced with corny sex and socioeconomic jokes.
Many believe Dharma and Greg's wedding was the point where the show 'jumped the shark.'
Meanwhile, Pete and Jane divorced in the fourth season, leading to that character leaving the series (albeit a minor cameo in the final season).
Its cancellation was hastened by its cellar low ratings in season five.

Why Dharma and Greg might not be annoying:

It was created by Chuck Lorre of 'Two and a Half Men.'
It revived Alan Rachin's career after ' L.A. Law.'
It launched the careers of Elfman and Gibson.
    It lampooned many 'fish-out-of-water' cliches.
The series was nominated for six Emmys, and Elfman won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
It was awarded Favorite Television New Comedy Series at the 1998 People's Choice Awards.
Gibson found further success playing Agent Hotchner on 'Criminal Minds.'
Admit it. Don't you just enjoy seeing Agent Hotchner acting silly for once?
Lorre went on to create 'The Big Bang Theory.'
Elfman and Gibson made an appearance on 'Two and a Half Men' spoofing their characters (even though their guest roles really had no names).
