TV Series
    Stop-motion animated series
    Animation by Art Clokey
Funded by the Lutheran Church in America
    Episodes were 15 minutes long
    Originally aired 1960-65
30-minute holiday episodes created in the late 60s
    Revived 1971-73
Additional specials aired in 1972, 1975 and 2004
Premise: Davey and his talking dog learn religious lessons through their everyday experiences
    Recurring catchphrase: Goliath's 'I don't know, Davey'
Davey was the only one who could hear Goliath, giving the show a Son of Sam vibe.
Considering that in the Bible David killed Goliath, maybe the real message was that Davey should ignore his nagging conscience and just go for it.
They whored themselves out to Mountain Dew (2001) to fund the production of their last special.
The Lutheran Church provided it to stations free of charge and it aired without commercials.
Davey's best friend, Jonathan, was black, one of the first interracial friendships in a TV series.
It usually delivered its morals without getting heavy handed.
