Why he might be annoying:

He was known for wearing gold Nike shoes.
He didn't make the finals of the 200 meter dash in the 1992 Summer Olympics due to food poisoning he received from eating at a Spanish restaurant.
He suffered an injury during a heavily-hyped 150 meter race with Donovan Bailey (1997).
In addition to Nike, he has also appeared in ads for milk and Visa.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first man to win gold in the 200 and 400 meter dashes at the same Olympics.
At the 1996 Olympic Trials, he broke the seventeen year old record in the 200 meter dash with a 19.66 time (the old record was 19.72 by Italy's Pietro Mennea).
He would go on to smash his own record in the 200 meter dash with a 19.32 time at the ensuing Olympics.
He had an winning streak in 400 meter dash finals that lasted eight years and 58 races.
He ranked number 96 on ESPN's SportsCentury list (1999).
