While at the University of North Dakota, he and Jonathan Toews were cited for underage drinking (2006).
    He is extremely injury prone.
He missed three months of the 2010-11 season as a result of breaking his ankle in an on ice scrum.
He is often overshadowed by teammate David Backes in the St. Louis media.

Why he might not be annoying:

He moved from Washington to Minnesota in order to improve his hockey career.
Due to the nature of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, he was unable to attend as a result of the shortened time frame.
He is considered a feisty player who is willing to stick up for his teammates.
His high energy style of play made him a fan favorite in St. Louis.
