Why he might be annoying:

    He suffered from anxiety during his career.
    He shares his name with an American senator.
    His playing career was derailed by injuries.
    He was part of the trade that sent both him and Kirk Reuter to the Giants, albeit with opposite effects for both players (1996).
    While Reuter established himself as a mainstay in the Giants rotation, he was unable to hold down a roster spot for the remainder of his career.

    He excelled in the relief role, upon being converted from a starting pitcher during his early years in the Dodgers farm system.

    He was able to coach his son, Preston during the latter's high school career.
