Hockey Player
He played a year in the World Hockey Association before being drafted by an NHL team.
He spent the bulk of his career on poor Nordiques teams.
He was traded to Chicago in a salary dump move.
His career ended after he hit his head on the ice awkwardly, which caused a severe concussion.
He wore the broomball style helmet, which was made famous by Wayne Gretzky, which was deemed obsolete by hockey standards at the time of his head injury.
He was a finesse goal scorer.
He and Peter Stastny were the first players to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as members of the Nordiques (1998).
He was the first Nordiques player to have his jersey retired, for his contributions with the team in the NHL.
He got the chance to spend a good portion of his career in Quebec, not far from his hometown of Péribonka.
He recorded four consecutive 50+ goal seasons (1983-87).
