Why Monk might be annoying
It is yet another detective show.
The OCD gimmick lost prominence in the show.
When the actor who played Monk's first therapist died of of a heart attack, they wrote it into the show (2008).
They replaced a main character mid-season because of a contract dispute. (2004)
There is a series of novels based on the show.
Because of the character 'Sharona Fleming' it gives them an excuse to play the 'My Sharona' song.
Micheal Richards was offered the role of 'Monk' but turned it down.
Why Monk might not be annoying
It survived a main character replacement.
The ODC aspect added a new twist.
It was one of the highest-rated series in basic cable history.
Fans went ape-shit when the show changed opening themes and there are several in-jokes referencing the change.
It, along with Psych, made the USA Network very successful.
