Why he might be annoying:

Expos fans called him 'Le Grand Orange.'
He has to share his retired #10 with Andre Dawson.
He was considered one of the slowest runners in the majors.
He ran into a wall during the 1973 National League Championship Series and as a result could only throw underhanded during the World Series.
His quirks, such as wearing different gloves when hitting and running the bases, led one sportswriter to say he 'led the league in eccentricities.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He endeared himself to Montreal's French-Canadians by learning their language.
He followed Ty Cobb as the second player to hit home runs as a teen and in his 40s.
He was the only player to have 500 hits with four different teams.
Detroit manager Ralph Houk said, 'If a young player wants to learn how to hit, all he has to do is watch Rusty Staub.'
He founded the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund, which raised $11 million its first 15 years and over $110 million since 9/11.
