Drafted 214th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft
Defenseman for the Buffalo Sabres (1986-91), New York Islanders (1991-94), Quebec Nordiques (1994-95), Colorado Avalanche (1995-98), Detroit Red Wings (1998-2002) and the Atlanta Thrashers (2002-03)
Why he might be annoying
He was injury prone during the later stages of his career.
He was vilified by Avalanche Fans after signing with the rival Red Wings as a free agent.
He threw out his back during the infamous 'Brawl in Hockeytown' (1997).
While sitting out the entire 1999-2000 and 2000-01 seasons with a back injury, it was speculated that he was dog sledding instead of working on rehabilitation for his back.
He was heavily criticized by the German media for refusing to become based out of his home country following his appointment as he German National Team's head coach.
Why he might not be annoying
He was the second player from West Germany to have a successful NHL career.
He scored the triple overtime goal which helped the Avalanche win their first Stanley Cup (1996).
He is married to American dog sled racer Valerie Buck-Krupp.
He elected to build the German national hockey team of young inexperienced players rather than veterans.
He and his family voluntarily opened their home to a couple Hurricane Katrina refugees.
