Most well known for his work on string theory and frequent appearances on television
Graduated from Harvard (Summa Cum Laude) with a BS and from Berkeley with a PhD, both in Physics
Author of almost 100 journal articles and numerous books including; 'Quantum Field Theory: A Modern Introduction,' 'Introduction to Superstrings and M-Theory,' 'Physics of the Impossible' and 'Nuclear Power: Both Sides'
Why he might be annoying
He's a publicity hound.
His hair is horrible.
He has written speculation on the feasibility of various science fiction ideas such as; phasers, time travel and transporters.
Neither he, nor anyone else, can explain to normal people what his specialty, string theory, is.
Why he might not be annoying
He's frigging brilliant!
His parents were poor Japanese immigrants.
He volunteered to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam war, but it fortunately ended before he saw combat.
He's against nuclear weapons and proposes a system for their elimination without putting one country at the mercy of others during their elimination.
He taught at City University of New York for over thirty years.
He has a pretty decent website.
