The Resume

    (June 12, 1934- )
    Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
    Former investor in Sage Telecom
Owner of Stewart, Green Properties Ltd.
Part owner of the Calgary Flames (1980-90)
Principal owner of the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars (1990-96)
He was involved with the NHL Board of Governors for close to 20 years, prior to his decision to sell the team.

Why he might be annoying:

He is the most hated sports figure in the state of Minnesota.
He was involved in a sexual harassment lawsuit by a former employee, which played a factor in his decision to move the North Stars out of the Twin Cities area.
It was widely speculated his wife threatened to divorce him if he didn't move the team out of the Twin Cities, once word of his sexual harassment scandal became public.
His decision to rebrand the franchise's logo and color scheme sparked speculation the team would be relocated (1991).
Despite the Target Center being a newer venue in the Twin Cities at the time, he refused to allow his team to play at the venue due to its sponsorship with Coca-Cola.
Many people in the Twin Cities refer to him as 'Norm Greed' due to his decision to relocate the North Stars to Texas.
He initially planned to move the team to Anaheim, with the team being known as the 'Los Angeles Stars.'
His plan to relocate to Anaheim was nixed after the Walt Disney Company was granted the rights to an expansion franchise.
He opted to move the team to Dallas after talking to Roger Staubach.
He was forced to sell the Stars two years after moving the team to Dallas as a result of financial issues with his business ventures outside of hockey.
In a manner similar to Art Modell with Cleveland, he has never returned to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area following the relocation of the North Stars.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was part of the initial consortium that purchased the Atlanta Flames and relocated them to Calgary (1980).
He earned a Stanley Cup ring as a part owner of the Flames (1989).
He validated his decision to relocate the North Stars to Dallas, citing he lost money in his first couple years of owning the franchise.
He saw the North Stars make their last Stanley Cup Finals appearance in Minnesota (1991).
He was credited with being one of the first owners to bring hockey to the American Sun Belt.
He was a successful developer of shopping centres across Canada and the United States during the 1970's and 1980's.
He was given a Stanley Cup ring by Tom Hicks, as a gift for his contributions to bringing the NHL to Dallas and growth of hockey programs in the state of Texas.
