The Resume

    (1970- )
Formed as a session band for Studio One in Doraville, GA (a suburb of Atlanta)
Members came from the break-up of two bands - The Candymen and The Classics IV
Began writing and recording their own material in 1972
Know by most fans as simply ARS
    1976 line-up:
    Ronnie Hammond - lead vocals
    Barry Bailey - lead guitar
J.R. Cobb - rhythm guitar, background vocals
    Dean Daughtry - keyboards
Robert Nix - drums, background vocals
    Paul Goddard - bass
Recorded 'So Into You,' 'I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight,' 'Champagne Jam,' 'Imaginary Lover,' 'Angel,' 'Do It Or Die,' 'Neon Nites,' 'Spooky' and 'Alien'

Why they might be annoying:

Their original lead singer quit after their first album was released.
Though they tried to be the next big southern band following The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd, they were not as commercially successful.
Hammond, battling depression, had a confrontation with police in December 1998 and was shot in the chest (he survived).
With no hits since 1981 and only a few original members remaining they now play small venue fairs and fests.

Why they might not be annoying:

They had a huge Georgia following before hitting it big in 1976.
Their 1976 album 'Rock and Roll Alternative' went gold and their 1977 follow-up 'Champagne Jam' went platinum.
It was accidentally discovered that if 'Imaginary Lover' on an LP was played at 45 rpm, Hammond's voice sounded almost identical to that of Stevie Nicks.
A copy was sent to Nicks, who called the similarity astounding.
They were elected to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1996.
