After finding out she couldn't go to college, she began to rebel by drinking, smoking, and sleeping around, leading her to teenage pregnancy (1968).
Her husband, Sonny Raymond Bouchard, was a high-school dropout and a drug user.
She was on welfare until her son was eight years old.
She stupidly married her boyfriend and kept the baby rather than ditching him and giving her son (Jason) to her parents.
She is divorced.

Why she might not be annoying:

She managed to graduate Wesleyan being a single, poor mother.
She wrote an autobiography which got made into a movie with Steve Zahn and Drew Barrymore.
She successfully turned her life around for the better.
