    Its population declined considerably in the 1980's.

    It is home to the Black River Falls.
    It was considered an important mill town in the state during the early part of the state's industrial boom in the late 1800's.
    It is home to the Eureka Schoolhouse; the oldest one room school in the state.
    It has various century old historic structures still in tact such as the Hartness House and the Gould's Mill Bridge.
    It was chosen to host the world premiere of The Simpsons Movie, which drew massive interest and tourism (2007).
