Why he might be annoying:

He was the first NHL player to test positive for steroids (January 2006).
As a result, the IIHF suspended him from international competition for two years.
He was extremely over-rated while playing with Plymouth, of the Ontario Hockey League.
He refused to sign with the Ottawa Senators forcing the team to pull off a 3 team 7 player trade.
That trade eventually led to the Senators acquiring Wade Redden who became the team's franchise defenseman.
In a game against the Senators, he got in the way of Marian Hossa's errant stick which clipped him in the eye.
He refused to wear a visor which could have saved the vision in his right eye.

Why he might not be annoying:

He decided to wear a visor upon returning to the NHL.
He won the Calder trophy in 1997 after leading all rookies in assists and minutes played among first year players.
He was still able to log in heavy minutes with the Bruins & Blackhawks despite having 20/400 vision in his right eye.
He doubted all his skeptics who said he could not play at the level he did at the time of his accident.
He aggressively fought for the right to play even though he didn't meet the NHL's vision requirements.
