The Resume

    (March 10, 1452-January 23, 1516)
Born in Sos del Rey Catolico, Spain
    King of Aragon
Married Queen Isabella I of Castille
Marriage effectively united Aragon and Castille into the nation of Spain
Father of Juana la Loca, Catherine of Aragon and Queens Isabella and Maria of Portugal

Why he might be annoying:

In pop culture, his role in events like sponsoring Christopher Columbus is overshadowed by Isabella's.
He spent a large hunk of his reign fighting repeated wars against France over control of Italy.
He fathered at least four children with his mistresses.
After Isabella's death, he tried to re-separate Spain: after a feud with Juana's husband, he remarried in hopes of siring a son, who would replace Juana as heir to the throne of Aragon.
His second wife was his neice.

Why he might not be annoying:

He completed the reconquest of Moorish territories on the Iberian penninsula.
He and Isabella laid the foundation for Spain's emergence as a world power.
He said, 'The King of France complains that I have twice deceived him. He lies, the fool. I have deceived him ten times and more.'
