Why they might be annoying:

Although Crawford and Kwon are members, they got screwed over when the band was named.
Long-term fans complained that Rick Rubin's production smoothed over the rough edges that were part of the charm of their early albums.
'Head Full of Doubt' was used as background music for American Idol Season 10.
They appeared in ads for the Gap.

Why they might not be annoying:

Their sound combines elements of rock, country, folk and bluegrass.
They were described by the San Francisco Chronicle as having 'the heavy sadness of Townes Van Zandt, the light pop concision of Buddy Holly, the tuneful jangle of the Beatles, the raw energy of the Ramones.'
They performed together with Bob Dylan and Mumford and Sons at the Grammys (2011).
They performed at the National Christmas Tree lighting (2013).
Scott is also a painter and printmaker with his own gallery in Concord.
