Why she might be annoying:

    Her nickname was ‘Buggie.'
She claimed to have begun writing scenarios for D.W. Griffith at age 12 (she was actually well in her 20's).
She described Hollywood personalities as chauffeurs and maids who had risen above their stations.
She attacked Fatty Arbuckle in print during the Virginia Rappe scandal.
Many of her colorful anecdotes about the stars were fabricated.

Why she might not be annoying:

She is one of the greatest screenwriters and scenarists of all time.
Her very first scenario ‘The New York Hat (1912),' starring Mary Pickford, was a hit.
D.W. Griffith eventually found her writing too ‘snappy' for his tastes.
She heavily promoted Douglas Fairbanks in his early days.
Her title ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' poked fun at H.L. Mencken.
Marilyn Monroe had one of her best roles in the 1953 film adaptation of 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.'
She is famous for innumerable quips such as ‘I've always loved high style in low company.'
Her brother Clifford founded one of the first health insurance companies in the United States.
