Why she might be annoying:

She had a nervous breakdown (1945).
She suffered with depression.
She turned down the part of Ethel claiming it was too frumpy. She also was unhappy portraying the wife of William Frawley (she was 39, he was 64).
She and Frawley hated each other deeply and constantly feuded.
As part of her contract for 'I Love Lucy,' she had to remain 20 pounds heavier than Lucille Ball.
When she heard William Frawley died, she said, 'Champagne for everyone.'
She divorced three times.

She performed on Broadway.
After meeting Lucille Ball she quipped, 'I'm going to learn to love that bitch.'
She was nominated for four Emmy Awards as Ethel in 'I Love Lucy' (1954, 55, 57, 58).
She won 'Best Supporting Actress' Emmy (1954).
She died of breast and bone cancer (August 17, 1979)
She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
