Personal Assistant

The Resume

    (November 10, 1939- )
    Born in Edwards, Mississippi
Birth name is Betty Grace Williams
Former personal secretary for President Bill Clinton (January 20, 1993 – January 20, 2001)
Key figure in the Monica Lewinsky scandal

Why she might be annoying:

She was subpoenaed to appear before the grand jury in the Paula Jones case over her alleged handling of gifts given to Monica Lewinsky from the President (30 in total).
Her duties allegedly included A) using roundabout routes to sneak Lewinsky into the Oval Office, B) coming in on weekends solely to admit Lewinsky, C) asking the Secret Service not to record Lewinsky's visits, and D) waiting outside the Oval Office study while the two had intercourse and then leaving the White House with them to avoid any suspicions.
Her don't-ask-don't-tell allegiance to Clinton allegedly compromised the efforts of other White House aides who were trying to save him from himself.
She was accused of enabling and hiding the President's trysts with Monica Lewinsky in an unethical manner.
Her testimony indirectly led to Clinton's subsequent impeachment charge of obstruction of justice.
She worked on President-elect Barack Obama's transition team answering phones for John Podesta but was denied an administration job.
She arguably was responsible for the entire mess in the first place: She got her the White House job through friend Vernon Jordan.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was very loyal to her boss.
She was of strong religious convictions.
She was a widely pitied figure.
She was a friend of Lewinsky's who got her the White House job through Vernon Jordan (and unlike some people she didn't violate Lewinsky's trust).
She reportedly was receiving spiritual counseling from Jesse Jackson during the Impeachment ordeal.
She was given the Clintons' White House pet Socks after the First Couple left the White House.
She ended up having to euthanize Socks after the cat lost a long battle with cancer (February 2009).
