Why he might be annoying:

He was urged to keep his homosexuality closet while appearing on the soap, fearing it may alienate female fans.
In 2002, he was rejected for Big Brother 3.
He's had various plastic surgeries including dental veneers, liposuction, cheek bucceling, ears pinned-back and silicone in his jaws.
His character on 'The Young and the Restless' was a teen alcoholic, killed in a drunk driving accident.

Why he might not be annoying:

His schizophrenic youngest brother, Troy, beat their mother to death with a baseball bat and was sentenced to life in prison (1989).
Another brother, Craig, committed suicide (2002).
Thom coped with his family tragedies through painting and documentary filmmaking.
He is now out of the closet and involved with various charities supporting gay teens and AIDS education.
