Why he might be annoying:

He, along with Cliff Lee and Grady Sizemore were traded from the Montreal Expos in a cost-cutting move, which turned out to become one of the most lopsided steals for the Indians.
He was traded to the cross-state rival Cincinnati Reds after the Indians felt he wasn't living up to his true potential at the major league level.
He made derogatory remarks about the Cardinals, saying they bitch and moan about everything in baseball.
He started a bench clearing brawl between the two clubs after he intentionally smacked his bat against Yadier Molina's shin pads (2010).
He has been accused of showboating by baseball pundits.

Why he might not be annoying:

He established himself as an everyday player shortly after his trade to the Reds.
He became the first Reds second baseman since Pokey Reese to win a Gold Glove (2008).
He grew up a Reds fan and listed Barry Larkin amongst his favorite players.
He won a Fielding Bible Award for best defensive player at his position (2008).
He comes from a family of athletic lineage as his brother was a baseball prospect and his sister was a basketball player.
