The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He is known for his inconsistency when pitching.
In 2009, he signed a 3-year $36 million dollar contract extension with the Mets.
In the first year of his contract, he suffered one injury that kept him out of action for two months, then another one less than two months later that ended his season.
In 2010, he was demoted to the bullpen after a string of bad starts and has refused to be sent down to the minor leagues. There was even talk that the Mets would release him and that two teammates wanted him gone.

Why he might not be annoying:

In game 7 of the 2006 National League Championship Series, he pitched six strong innings in spite of having little postseason experience.
At the beginning of the 2006 baseball season, he was the top starting pitcher for the Pirates.
He was fourth in the National League in strikeouts in 2004 and also led the league in strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
In 2007 he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated with several other Mets.
