Widely considered to be one of the worst actors of all time.

Why he might be annoying:

He mistakenly believed himself to be the greatest actor alive.
During a performance of 'Romeo and Juliet,' he tried to pry open Juliet's casket with a crowbar.
He lived off an inheritance and did not have a real job.
He wore feathers, furs (even in hot weather!), brightly colored pantaloons, silk capes and lots of diamonds.
He rode around in a fancy carriage with the motto 'While I Live I'll Crow.'
His performances were so over-the-top bad that audiences fell over laughing.
Some audience members had to be treated for hysterical laughter after his performances.
He wrote new dialogue and tried to 'update' classic plays.
He had to bribe theater owners to let him perform.

Why he might not be annoying:

The Prince of Wales (later King George IV) attended one of his performances.
For better or for worse, he brought in the audiences.
He eventually used up his family's fortune.
He outlived both of his children.
He died after being hit by a cab.
