    He had to quit the army because of a broken ankle.
    He leeched on to aristocrats for money and social status.
    He pissed off a lot of people by trying to please everyone (born politician).

    He worked as an ambassador for several powerful nobles.
    Raphael painted him.
    His beloved wife died four years into their marriage.
    He died of bubonic plague.
    He said: ‘Everything that men can understand, women can understand also.’
    His ‘Book of the Courtier’ was a guide for male dress and etiquette (sort of the ‘GQ’ of its time).
    He said that men should be well-read, athletic, cultivated and charming.
    Some call him ‘the first Renaissance man.’
