Why he might be annoying:

    He named his son after himself.
    He drew fire by baseball pundits after he signed Pete Gray to a contract, which was considered a publicity stunt, due to the fact Gray was an amputee.
    He sold the Browns to Bill Veeck, after he couldn't afford to keep the franchise afloat.
    He drew fire from Reds fans, after he traded Frank Robinson to Baltimore for Milt Pappas.
    He was connected to being part of a group that sought to bring an expansion franchise to Buffalo, New York for the 1969 season, which never came to fruition.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He started out in baseball as a soda pop vendor for the Browns, before establishing his first professional job working under Branch Rickey.
    He admitted many of the moves he made with the Browns were just ways to get the franchise to stay afloat financially.
    He was the architect of the Browns team that won their lone American League pennant, prior to their relocation to Baltimore (1944).
    He was one of the first general managers to sign African-American players, prior to the color barrier being broken.
    He worked in Major League Baseball for 60 years at the time of his retirement.
