Why The Goldbergs might be annoying:

The advantage of being on TV in 1949, they didn't have to try hard. Audiences were so enamoured with the device they would watch a test pattern.
The scripts were realistic and mundane.
Almost two decades before Samantha changed Dicks for Darrens, the husband's role was changed three times.
Even the son was performed by one actor and than another.
Why stop there Uncle David performed by Eli Mintz was replaced by Menasha Skulnick and then in a sudden reversal, back came Eli Mintz.
Because the show was presented live there may be (if any) only a few grainy kinescopes available.
Molly was a yenta always gossiping with her neighbor Mrs. Bloom,
When NBC acquired the show from CBS it went from a weekly ½ hour series to a three times per week 15 minute series, then back to a weekly half hour series.

Why The Goldbergs might not be annoying:

    It pioneered family TV sit-coms.
The lead, Gertrude Berg, was the first woman on TV to not only star in the show, but write and produce it as well.
Gertrude Berg originated the character of Molly Goldberg for Radio in 1929. She continued that character for 20 years on radio.
The show spawned a Broadway musical 'Molly.'
The original Jake, Philip Loeb, was forced off the show when he was black listed as a communist. Although swore under oath and there was no proof he was not a communist, both CBS and the sponsors force him out. Loeb eventually killed himself (1955).
They introduced the character that you don't see on screen, Molly's friend Mrs. Bloom, however in 1953, she made a few appearances.
