    Subject of the 2004 biography 'Disappeared: A Journalist Silenced'

Why she might be annoying:

    She divorced Fernando Valle after 3 years and the birth of 2 sons.
    One son, Sergio, was made to live on an Israeli kibbutz after a hand grenade was tossed in her car (1970).
    After a 1979 attack, she wrote the book 'At 12:15, the Sun,' which she dedicated to 'my dear murderer.'
    She liked aerobics.

Why she might not be annoying:

    In 1975, the city of Granado bestowed her the title 'Favored Daughter' for her activism against the oppression of indigenous people and political activism against the regime of Romeo Lucas Garcia.
    She formed the first Guatemalan Human Rights Commission.
    While her being driven home by her son Fernando from her grandson's 4th birthday party, she and Fernando were boxed in by 2 cars.
    Two men exited the vehicles, shooting Fernando fatally in the skull and forcing Irma into a station wagon.
    She was presumed killed by the Guatemalan government, and has never been seen again.
