The Resume

    (February 12, 1951- )
    Born in Wichita, Kansas
    Middle name is Lea
Washington Bureau Chief for USA Today
Author of 'The Matriarch: Barbara Bush and the Making of an American Dynasty' (2019)
Moderated the Harris-Pence Vice presidential debate (October 7, 2020)

Why she might be annoying:

Conservatives doubted her ability to remain objective as a debate moderator.
The reason? She inked a lucrative deal to write biography on Nancy Pelosi only a year earlier.
On the other side of the political spectrum, she was criticized for throwing a party for a Trump administration official back in 2018.
Her demeanor comes off like a book club hostess - something her Kate McKinnon-SNL doppelganger pointed out ('I'm Susan Page, and I missed book club for this').

Why she might not be annoying:

She was editor-in-chief of her high school yearbook.
During her time working for USA Today, she has interviewed nine U.S. presidents (six of them sitting).
She was the first woman to serve as music chairman of the Gridiron Club show.
Her Barbara Bush biography was well-received by both critics and readers in general.
She is the first print reporter to helm a televised presidential debate since 1976.
While not completely sold, many conservatives were pleasantly surprised by her job as an impartial debate moderator.
