Why Managua, Nicaragua might be annoying:

It has been struck by devastating earthquakes for every 50 years or less, particularly in 1931, which resulted in a devastating fire, and on December 23, 1972.
Roberto Clemente was killed in a plane crash while delivering aid to the survivors of the latter earthquake.
Its economic recovery following the 1972 earthquake was hampered by the corruption of the Somoza family, civil war, and Hurricane Mitch.
The old city center is still in disrepair as a result of all the mayhem that struck the city.
Almost half of its population lives below the poverty line.
The local police is ineffective in providing security to outsiders from gang attacks.
Many of its streets don't have signs.

Why Managua, Nicaragua might not be annoying:

It is nicknamed the Venice of Central America because of its increasing use of canals.
It is one of Latin America's economically friendly tourist destinations, meaning that the costs there are a fraction of the costs in other cities.
It is immortalized in a jazz song of the same name that lauded the city during its moment of high development in the 1940s.
It has a university named after Thomas More.
It contains the preserved footprints formed 6,000 years ago that showed evidence of early settlement there.
It is the first Central American capital city to eliminate illiteracy as a result of a successful literacy campaign. (2007)
