Comedian

The Resume

    (circa 1560-circa 1603)
Shareholder in the Lord's Chamberlain's Men theater company along with William Shakespeare
Created many of the main comic roles in Shakespeare's plays, including Bottom in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' Dogberry in 'Much Ado About Nothing,' Peter in 'Romeo & Juliet' and Launcelot Gobbo in 'The Merchant of Venice'

Why he might be annoying:

He ad-libbed continually, and it is believed that Shakespeare wrote the lines 'And let those that play your clowns speak no more than is set down for them,' in 'Hamlet' because of that.
He was a shameless self promoter.
After he left the Lord Chamberlain's Men in 1600, he danced from London to Norwich in a nine day span to publicize himself.
He wrote a pamphlet called 'Kempe's Nine Days Wonder' to advertise the accomplishment.
He completely disappeared from all public record immediately afterwards.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the most beloved performer of the Elizabethan theater.
He was featured as a leading character in Arthur Miller's play 'A Cry of Players.'
