Why he might be annoying:

Amateur Columbos have been trying to find him for over three decades.
Every few years, some shmoe on his death bed confesses to being him.
He smoked.
What kind of an idiot hijacks a plane for $200,000?
He said his name was 'Dan Cooper' but a rookie reporter accidentally called him 'D.B.' and it stuck.
A woman claiming to be his niece went public, saying she had worked with the F.B.I. to try to prove her uncle, Lynn Doyle Cooper, was the hijacker (August 2011).

Why he might not be annoying:

The FBI and police have no idea where he is.
It's possible he died in the parachute jump.
He didn't hurt or kill anybody during the hijacking.
Shows like 'Unsolved Mysteries' and 'In Search Of' have profiled his escapade.
