The Resume

    (September 23, 1916-May 9, 1978)
    Born in Maglie, Italy
Italian Minister of Justice (July 1955-May 1957)
Italian Minister of Education (May 1957-February 1959)
Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs (three terms between 1964-74)
    Prime Minister of Italy (December 1963-June 1968 & November 1974-July 1976)
Kidnapped by the Italian left-wing terrorist group Red Brigades (March 16, 1978)
Assassinated after 55 days in captivity in Rome at age 61

Why he might be annoying:

He was a lawyer turned politician.
He helped form the Christian Democracy (Democrazia Cristiana) in 1943, which at the beginning embraced both left and right-wing ideologies before taking a Centrism approach, alienating several political factions.
He went six years between prime minister stints.
He was accused of taking bribes during the Lockheed scandal, but absolved of any wrongdoing 13 days before his kidnapping.
When several cabinet members suggested torturing a suspect for info on his whereabouts, General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa stated, Italy can survive the loss of Aldo Moro. It would not survive the introduction of torture.'
The Christian Democrats were set to accept the Italian Communist Party into its fold (known as the Historic Compromise), but his murder abruptly ended any such deal.
Mario Moretti, the person who confessed to being the trigger man behind the assassination, received six life sentences, but served just 15 years in jail before he was paroled in 1998.

Why he might not be annoying:

As a professor, he taught Criminal Law and Procedure, first at FUCI of Bari and later at Sapienza University of Rome.
As a skilled negotiator, he had a willingness for compromise, which didn't set well with some and helped seal his fate at the hands of terrorists.
The Italian government refused any prisoner exchange or to even negotiate with the Red Brigades, so he was as good as dead.
He was put in the trunk of a red Renault 4, told to cover himself with a blanket for transfer to another location, and after complying, had ten bullets pumped into his body.
Pope Paul VI, who had offered himself as part of an exchange that never materialized, personally officiated in his funeral mass.
He was married to the same woman for 33 years up to his murder.
