    Warren Mitchell as Alf Garnett
    Dandy Nichols as Else Garnett
    Una Stubbs as Rita Rawlins
    Tony Booth as Mike Rawlins

Followed by the sequels 'Till Death....' (1981) and 'In Sickness and in Health' (1985-92)

Why he might be annoying:

Many of the older episodes were lost due to tape recycling.
It used controversial language such as 'bloody' and 'coon.'
Creator Johnny Speight was frequently late with scripts, forcing the last-minute cancelation of some episodes.
Nichols quit during the final season, with her character's absence explained by having Else move to Australia.
Comedian Lenny Henry argued that while the series was well-intentioned, having a central character spouting bigoted views on TV actually fostered racism in society.

Why he might not be annoying:

Its scripts won three awards from the Writers Guild of Great Britain (1967-69).
After Mary Whitehouse denounced the show as an example of the BBC's moral laxity, Alf was written to be an admirer: 'She's concerned for the bleedin' moral fibre of the nation!'
It inspired All in the Family.
