Why he might be annoying:

He only shot to fame in the wake of Bruce Lee's death and will forever live in his shadow.
Most of his success outside of Japan is thanks largely to Quentin Tarantino's efforts to introduce him to western audiences.
His film 'The Street Fighter (1974)' was one of the first films ever to be given an X-rating for violence alone in the US.
His acting range is very limited and despite having a very large filmography, he usually only stars in kung-fu films.

He is one of Japan's best known and most successful film and television stars.
He is 2nd-Dan Black belt in Jûdô, 4th-Dan Black belt in Ninjutsu, 1st-Dan Black belt in Kendô and 1st-Dan Black belt in Shôrinji Kenpô.
He is the childhood idol of Quentin Tarantino.
Many of his characters from his early TV series are the inspiration for characters in numerous Tarantino films.
He picked up where Bruce Lee left off in kung-fu movies, and was embraced by American audiences as the new master of martial arts.
Many of his films are cult classics.
