    Originally broadcast on ABC
    Spin-off of The Goldbergs
    Comedy series
    Set in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania
Amanda Joy Michalka as Lainey Lewis
Tim Meadows as Principal John Glascott
Bryan Callen as Coach Rick Mellor
    Brett Dier as C.B. Brown
Premise: A viewpoint of the 1990's from Lainey Lewis, who pursues a career as a music teacher at her alma mater
It was initially aired as a backdoor pilot on The Goldbergs.
The original idea was to have the show centered around Nia Long playing John's sister, and raising her teenage daughters in the 1990's.
They were forced to redevelop the show as Long was under contract with NCIS: Los Angeles, so it came up with the idea of giving Amanda Joy Michalka a central role as Lainey becoming a teacher at the school.
The first episode saw Wendi McLendon-Covey reprise her role as Beverly Goldberg forcing John to hire Lainey at the school, despite Lainey having no degree in education.
Like 'The Goldbergs,' It is set in '1990-something.'
It relies heavily on 1990's nostalgia.
It uses the closing credits where the actors do interviews with their real life counterparts.
We found out Matt Ryan was actually an alumnus of William Penn Academy in the episode 'Be Like Mike.'
Its debut episode drew higher ratings then that of 'The Goldbergs.'
Octavia Spencer did the narrating in the backdoor pilot episode.
It gave Tim Meadows and Bryan Callen larger roles then in 'The Goldbergs.'
The characters are loosely based on the real teachers that the show's co-creator Adam F. Goldberg had during his time at William Penn Charter School.
