Hockey Player

The Resume

    (January 31, 1949- )
Former General Manager of Buffalo Sabres (1989-92), Ottawa Senators (1998-99), Tampa Bay Lightning (1999-2002), Florida Panthers (2002-2004) and the Atlanta Thrashers (2010-11)
Former Head Coach of Buffalo Sabres (1989-92) and Florida Panthers (2003-04)
Former Forward For Buffalo Sabres (1972-1975, 1978-1981) and Winnipeg Jets (1981)
Played for Cincinnati of the World Hockey Association

Why he might be annoying:

He's known to make a lot of poor trades and sub-par first round draft selections.
When he played for the Sabres, he wore a yellow headband as part of his equipment.
He had a huge afro in his playing days.
He almost traded Vincent Lecavalier, which led to him losing a power struggle with Lightning management, ultimately leading to his resignation.
He traded the number one overall selection the Panthers had two years in a row.
He traded the first overall pick to Columbus so Rick Nash could be taken first instead of selecting Jay Bouwmeester first (2002).
He followed up by trading the #1 overall pick to Pittsburgh so they could select goalie Marc-Andre Fleury rather then use the pick on his own selection.
He had an ongoing personality conflict with Mike Keenan in Florida.
Many front office staff say he is difficult to work with.
During his stints with both Florida-based NHL teams, his teams never even came close to making the playoffs.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the architect of the 2004 Stanley Cup Champion Lightning which Jay Feaster, Dudley's assistant GM at the time gets credit for.
All the teams he was affiliated with have all had success after he has left.
He wore 99 with the Sabres before Wayne Gretzky made the uniform number famous.
He had success coaching in the minors.
After acquiring several below average goaltenders, he was successful in bringing Nikolai Khabibulin to the Lightning.
When he was coaching the Panthers, he allowed the team to mock him in practice by wearing afro wigs and the yellow headbands he made famous in the 1970's.
