Why he might be annoying
He spent the majority of his playing career on poor Rangers teams.
He bounced around on five different teams between the NHL and WHA combined after leaving the Rangers.
His tenure as the North Stars head coach lasted only eleven games.
Many modern day Ranger fans are oblivious to his career and contributions to the franchise.
Some hockey pundits felt he unfairly had the title of 'best career you never heard of' during his prime years.
Why he might not be annoying
He holds the Rangers franchise record for most career games played with the franchise.
He earned a Stanley Cup ring as a member of the Oilers scouting staff (1990).
He was the last player to win the Norris Trophy, prior to the 1967 expansion.
He was one of the last players to complete the original California double (play as a member of both the Kings and Golden Seals franchises).
He finally had his number retired by the Rangers 40 years after playing his last game with the franchise (2009).
