Music Producer

The Resume

    (September 26, 1973- )
    Born in Providence, Rhode Island
    Born Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald
Grammy nominations for Non-Classical Producer of the Year (2011, 2014), Album of the Year (Teenage Dream, 2011), and Song of the Year (Roar, 2014)
Producer for Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Flo Rida, Taio Cruz, One Direction, and Kesha
Defendant in the Sebert vs. Gottwald lawsuit (October 2014, against Kesha; countersuit filed)
ASCAP Pop Music Awards Songwriter of the Year winner (2010, 2011)

Why he might be annoying:

A Billboard article labeled him a ‘perfectionist nonpareil.’
A New York Mag article nicknamed him ‘The Hit Whisperer.’ Complete with ‘ear worm’ reference.
His parents put the kibosh on his interest in becoming a drummer.
He asked Lavigne to pepper-spray him for the hell of it (‘getting tased is a little different’).
In his school years, during which he had gone to at least eight different schools, he became adept at growing… weed.
His father’s cancer experiences led him to take up raw-food dieting in turn.
Miley Cyrus made a wager with him ‘Wrecking Ball’ would become a number-one single. He lost the bet and bought her a ten-grand Numi toilet similar to his own.
A Kesha fan started up a ‘Free Kesha’ campaign in which he was accused of trapping her in a multi-record contract.

Why he might not be annoying:

Being a product of his father’s first marriage, he has one biological sister and two step-siblings.
His late father was an architect, while his mother was an interior designer. Pair that with a childhood in a garment district loft…
He owns two publishing companies — one for his own works and another for other songwriters.
He spent a good decade as the lead guitarist of the Saturday Night Live house band.
Billboard named him as one of the top ten producers of the new millennium (2009).
He neatly sidestepped jurisdiction in the suit – based on abuse allegations made in California – by filing his extortion countersuit in New York and forcing Kesha into a locus outside her comfort zone.
