Why Pokemon might be annoying
One word: Pikachu.
The show inspired such inane slogans such as 'Gotta catch 'em all!' and 'Pokeball Go!'
The word 'Pokemon' is a Japanese portmanteau for 'pocket monster.'
The TV series was said to allegedly cause seizures in children; it was later proved that those seizures were linked to epilepsy.
The show relies heavily on running gags such as Brock falling in love with a Nurse Joy, an Officer Jenny, or a beautiful female he encounters.
Ash often can be egocentric.
TV viewers wonder when will Ash ever become a 'Pokemon' master given the shows run for more than a decade.
Two words: Team Rocket.
Protestant Christian groups believed their characters were Satanic.
Others thought the premise promoted gambling and animal cruelty.
Besides an animated series, it spawned three movies and several direct-to-video features.
Some felt the series lost its appeal when Misty left the series as a regular character.
There are way too many Pokemon species to keep track off.
Why Pokemon might not be annoying
The series, along with the video games, helped to create 'Pokemon' into a multi-billion dollar franchise.
Often times, the show contains humorous pop culture references.
When the series began airing on The WB, the entire Kids WB Saturday morning programming block skyrocketed in the ratings.
Pikachu was listed as one of TV Guide's 50 Most Memorable Cartoon Characters (2002).
