Oddity

The Resume

Proto-psychological theory of basic personality types
    Basis of constitutional medicine (greekmedicine.net)
Any of the Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic, or Phlegmatic humors
Characterized by response to and impression of any given situation

Why Four Temperaments might be annoying:

While he did not give them their accepted name, Hippocrates used his medical theorems to link them to an imbalance of bodily fluid (or ‘dyscrasia,’ the dominant fluid creating the dominant humor).
The Leucine temperament, that of near-complete neutrality and based on broader studies, gave rise to a Five Temperaments model and thus more orientations.
The Exposition of the Orthodox Faith by St. John Damascene attributes humor to the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, and winter respectively).
A 13th-century archbishop suggested fasting, particularly on Ember Days, would restore a balance in temperament.
Other studies indicated that characteristics of a food or flavoring would affect the temperament.
At least one of the Seven Deadly Sins is an issue for each temperament.

Why Four Temperaments might not be annoying:

They are internally complex and initially hard to comprehend but always on display.
All human life forms possess at least one trait of all temperaments — it is just that one tends to stand out above all others and thus forms the primary humor.
By the same token, consciously or subconsciously, all human life forms possess a secondary temperament which is not the same as the primary (a ‘blend’).
They give a rudimentary idea of what is behind an individual’s motivations and reactions.
Despite its scientific incertitude, long since disproven by advancements on all fronts, it remains a critical tool in personality profiling.
