Upon graduating high school, he was out of shape and had never been the kind to lift weights.
At one point, he disliked college so much, he moved back in with his family and considered quitting school to work at a home improvement store like Lowe's and The Home Depot.

He is known for his fastball that can reach and exceed 100 mph, even as his pitch count gets high.
