TV Personality

The Resume

    (August 29, 1974- )
    Born in New Jersey
New York Correspondent for EXTRA (2004 - )
    Co-Host of <22950>BET's<22950> 106 & Park, with 'Miss Free' Wright (2000 - 2005)
Contributor and guest host for The Today Show
    Graduated Omega Psi Phi

Why he might be annoying:

He got his start as a New York party promoter.
He teared up while hosting his last episode of 106 & Park.
He had a pilot for either a sitcom or a talk show (titled 'The Show with AJ Calloway') which was never picked up.
Gossip outlets claimed that he sported fake dreadlocks during his time hosting '106.'
He and Miss Free teased out the possibility of rebooting '106' but nobody seemed to care all that much (in the era of 24-hour social media and YouTube, music video countdown shows are kinda obsolete these days).
He succeeded in annoying Beyoncé, with a series of personal questions about her engagement to Jay-Z during an interview which went viral, to the point of her getting visibly ticked off/defensive (2010).
He filmed an awkward post-debate interview with then-candidate Donald Trump in which the two compared hand sizes (try and get that visual out of your head, we'll wait...)

Why he might not be annoying:

He has cited Oprah Winfrey as his role model and mentor.
He graduated from Howard University with Magna Cum Lade honors.
Ratings for '106 & Park' decreased dramatically after his and Free's departure.
He earned two Emmy awards for Outstanding Entertainment News Program (2014; 2016).
He guested on an episode of Empire as himself.
He has a very personable interview style which endears him to his guests.
He started the Building the Bridge foundation, a mentorship program offering scholarships to college students.
He serves on the Dean's Advisory Board for the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
He is a traveling lecturer at universities across the US, speaking to youths about the dangers of drugs/unprotected sex, as well as the importance of entrepreneurship and leadership.
He taught a graduate course on Hip Hop culture and its relation to public history – first course of its kind at Howard University.
In a separate interview with Donald Trump, he not only successfully probed him on his relationship with Vladimir Putin, but also got him to admit that his two favorite books were those written by himself.
