The Resume

Why Father of the Pride might be annoying:

The real-life mauling of Roy by one the duo’s tigers almost resulted in the show being cancelled.
NBC hyped it to death during their coverage of the Olympics.
It was promoted as being from ‘the creators of ‘Shrek’,’ which made potential viewers think it was family friendly. It wasn’t.
Its humor was derivative of South Park, to point of having a character in one episode declare, ‘Screw you guys, I’m going home!’
The ratings dropped off quickly after its debut, not helped by frequent interruptions for coverage of the 2004 Presidential election.
Due to falling ratings and the huge costs ($2-$2.5 million per episode, making it one of the most expensive half hour shows ever), the series was cancelled in December,2004, although a couple of unaired episodes were burned off at the end of the 2004-05 season.
DreamWorks Animation pretends the show never existed, listing ‘The Penguins of Madagascar’ as their first TV series on their website.

Why Father of the Pride might not be annoying:

    Siegfried and Roy loved it.
It was the first TV show with feature film quality CGI effects.
Its debut attracted 12.3 million viewers, making it the most watched series episode for the week.
It pissed off the Parents Television Council.
