The Resume

    (January 10, 1983-March 30, 1987)
Aired on HBO in the U.S., CBC in Canada and ITV in the United Kingdom
    Created by Jim Henson
    Filmed in Toronto and London
Premise: The adventures of free-spirited underground creatures (called Fraggles)
Fraggles that were the main focus of the show were Gobo, Mokey, Red, Wembley and Boober
Other featured creatures include the workaholic ant-like Doozers and the giant farmer Gorgs

Why Fraggle Rock might be annoying:

Like 'The Muppet Show,' it wasn't produced in Jim Henson's home country.
The Fraggles were basically hippies who liked to steal stuff.
The Doozers constantly built structures for no reason that were always eaten by the Fraggles anyway.
It was a children's show with a character named Boober.
American kids who didn't get HBO were stuck with NBC's inferior, short-lived animated spin-off.
Most episodes of the British adaptation were eventually destroyed (apparently, the Brits didn't see the future of reruns and DVD reissues).

Why Fraggle Rock might not be annoying:

The theme song (which includes the catchy lyrics 'Dance your cares away (clap clap), worries for another day…') reached the British Top 40.
It depicted the relationships of Fraggle Rock's different creatures as a metaphor of the human world.
Like other Muppet productions, it contained several inside puns (i.e. Uncle Traveling Matt named after the traveling matte green screen technique.)
The Fraggles were 'dream sharing' years before Christopher Nolan thought of it for his film 'Inception.'
It produced different human 'wraparound' segments depending where the show was aired (the Fraggles were depicted living under a Canadian inventor's house, a British lighthouse, a French bakery, etc.)
It is beloved by many Muppet fans and children of the 1980's.
The Fraggles re-emerged for a Ben Folds Five video (2012).
