His nickname was 'the Clint Eastwood of China.'
He divorced his wife (actress Lin Tsui), who left him and their three children for another man in 1975.

Despite becoming one of the biggest kung-fu film stars in Hong Kong cinema, he possessed little actual martial arts skills for a large portion of his career.
Why he might not be annoying
He refused to sign the divorce papers for his second marriage, believing that his wife was having an affair. In 1999, he organized a bust with the police and caught his adulterous wife in bed with another man (a criminal offense under Taiwanese law).
In the 80s, he stood up to the Triads to get Jackie Chan out of trouble with them, in return Jackie starred alongside him in several films.
He was a martial arts movie star in Asia even before the legendary Bruce Lee.
He was a Hong Kong swimming champion.
